Matt and I went to Playa del Carmen for vacation we left last Thursday 6/18 and returned Monday 6/22. We stayed at the Dreams Spa & Resort in Puertos Avenutras http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepa/ if you are interested in taking a peek! It was perfect weather perfect everything and totally beautiful. It was a much needed vacation and the first big trip for us to take together since we never really hot a honeymoon when we married in 12/06....bout time huh!?!
Anyhow, the perfect trip has been followed by a terrible return to the states. Matt brought back some kinda funky bug and was running fever and miserable the night we got home...2 days later I too have the bug. We were so scared on Monday night that it was the swine flu, because his cough was terrible and the H1N1 manifests itself largely as a respiratory issue. But...after heading into urgent care on Tuesday morning and being swabbed for strep and influenza the doc says it is just a bad upper respiratory infection. So we are both on z-packs and sipping tussin to sleep at night, which brings me to my next point...TUSSIN.....WOW...
So Matt was sick before me and took a teaspoon of tussin to sleep that first night. We were sleeping in separate rooms at this point, as I was hoping not to catch the mess and totally couldn't sleep next to him with all the coughing anyways. So...sometime in the middle of the night he apparently wakes up in a "sizzurp" stooper and drinks another quarter of the bottle of Tussin...BIG OVERDOSE and to top it off it was a Time Release formula. He had a hangover from medicine and was in and out all day with blurry vision, dizziness, stumbling around, etc. It was like an all day drunk/hangover from medicine...he was so miserable bless his heart and swears to
never again touch Tussin. My little gangster will no longer sip the sizzurp hehe!
We are both still on the z-packs and praying for speedy recoveries but feeling pretty craptastic. Luckily, Matt has plenty of vacation time and has not gone back to work since we returned from Mexico....Unfortunately for me - not so much - I have been at work everyday battling it out :( We have some really adorable vacation pics and I will get them up very soon!

fragile
On June 4th 2009 my Uncle Hugh passed away after a six month battle with very aggressive cancer. It is a sad loss for all of his loved ones here on earth but a rich blessing for him to have passed on to be in the presence of the Lord. His death has been a beautiful reminder to me of how very precious this life is. It is so fleeting and we are promised nothing. There are no guarantees. My Uncle Hugh did not live a perfect live - but who of us has? He had a bumpy road on this earth but I am thrilled to say that before he left this life...he made it right. In his final days on earth he came to know the Lord as his personal savior. For that I am so grateful and I say PRAISE GOD.
His funeral was a celebration of his life on this earth and also a celebration of the peace he has found in eternity. My uncle served in the United States Navy and was given a very honorable grave-side ceremony by the local VA. I took some pictures. I realize some people might find this morbid or disrespectful but my Uncle was a genealogical genius! He researched old photos and gravestones and traced our family back for centuries through documents and old photographs. I feel like he would definitely appreciate the record of this special day.
So in honor of my Uncle Hugh's life....he will be missed dearly but only for a short while! xoxo
