so what do i do? the carnal "no-no" of pregnancy, the worst move an expectant mother can make...i GOOGLE. i admit i, i did. and of course - up pops a world of overwhelming, down spiraling, heart breaking diagnosis. i decide to ignore all of it and all my doctor's office. i get my favorite nurse on the phone and explain to her that i have an itchy rash around the edges of my face (sometimes referred to as pregnancy acne). it has been there for a month or so now and comes and goes, its not that noticeable. but now....well now my cheeks are some indescribable shade of red to boot. she reviews my symptoms and pulls my chart. her first fear was the same one the internet gave me...Parvo (aka fifth's disease, slapped cheek syndrome, etc).
Parvo is a virus often spread amongst children that has little effect on the immune system of a healthy child or adult...but one that can cause major problems for a pregnant woman. She tells me I am she does not show immunity to Parvo in my health records and that I need to come in for some additional bloodwork right away, as in now. So of course I cry, call Matt and beg him to go with me and its off we go. The lab results would not be in until Monday so it was a weekend of waiting. I called today and got the generic news that my bloodwork shows I am indeed not immune. (Most people are, about 70 percent of pregnant women apparently)...but not me, grrrr.
well i got my results FINALLY yesterday and they come back negative. so i do not have Parvo...but i am apparently not immuned. so hey, if you have Parvo, do me a favor and keep your distance until july :) Thaaaanks.
anyhow today i had my 19 week check up. the doctor went over our ultrasound report from last week. she said all of our measurements were spot on and that baby girl is growing right on target. she said the tech went on and on about how active the baby was during the ultrasound. dr. johnson said she thinks she will be a "feisty" little one. :) matt just laughed...i love it! we got to hear her heartbeat which was up from the 150's last week into the 160's today. she was kicking alot too. we did not have an ultrasound but you could hear her kicks even on the heart monitor. what a little toot!
during the ultrasound last week there were just a few important measurements they were not able to get because our little angel would not sit still long enough. so darnit (hehe) we "have" to go get another one done soon :) HOORAY. i could sit and watch her swim around in there for hours. i have several photos from the ultrasound. i will upload them soon when i am feeling better!
here are some 19 week pictures and a staggering fact...i have gained ELEVEN pounds thus far & my sweet little baby weighs in around 7 ounces...
19 weeks

I am so happy to hear that everything turned out ok! I guess that means keep your distance from the kiddos and such. You look absolutely adorable in your new pic, too :)
