whoa BABY!!!

i am way behind on this post. the news is out, the bump is in. and i can finally say these two beautiful words: "I'M PREGNANT!" ahhhhhh, wow that feels good. in fact, most of you have no idea how good. matt and i have been trying to get pregnant since february. and after nine long months our little lovey finally decided to start taking form inside of me.

after a handful of single pink lines (if you've ever taken a pregnancy test you know the ugly little devil i am referring to all too well!) and sad faces on the tiny monitor that can change your life...finally - a double line, a smiley face and a totally shocked ME! i tested positive on november 15th. i was right at five weeks pregnant, one week late on my period. this was just a day after matt's 31st birthday, what a sweet, sweet b-day present. the best ever! i ran into the living room, "pee stick" in hand and just held it out to show matt. his eyes got big in disbelief and he said..."its positive?!" we were in total shock. i did not cry, scream, nothing...i just sat there while he hugged me, totally shocked. of course after a few minutes it sunk in and i ran to the bedroom to start taking pictures of it - official proof that my miracle had finally come! of course, i woke up still shocked and insisted i take another test, lol. again...positive!

we immediately decided that it was too close to christmas to spoil the surprise on any less perfect day. so christmas it was, no big deal, right?...wrong! it was so hard to keep our special secret. especially in frisco at thanksgiving with my entire family there. i did not eat a single piece of turkey or any of the amazing desserts. just a little casserole and some veggies. i love thanksgiving, but i just couldn't bring myself to eat much at all. the nausea that would rule the next six weeks of my life was already in full swing. and so it began. exhaustion, nausea and splitting headaches like i didn't know was possible. happy first trimester to me!

baby at 8 weeks - 1st sonogram

christmas finally came and we FINALLY got to spill our beans. we got these super cute shirts and came out wearing them and presented our parents with a wrapped up picture of our first sonogram. it was such a sweet moment that none of us will ever forget. our families were thrilled. my mom and amber broke into tears and megan was screaming in a way that alarmed animals from waxahachie clear to fort worth, no joke. it was so perfect. we told my family on christmas eve and then matt's on christmas night. both sets of parents are thrilled and excited to be grandparents... again. matt's parents already have three grandchildren from his brother and of course my parents just got their first from my sister amber - SKYLER ADDISON KING - more on this precious little bundle later. he definitely deserves his own full post being that he is the absolute cutest baby in the entire universe. (see for yourself in my next post!)

our announcement and the shirts we wore on christmas to tell our families - so fun!

and then...like clockwork. week 12ish. i am a new woman. i have traded nausea for nosebleeds and total exhaustion for...well, slight exhaustion. i am still tired alot but nothing like those first few months. today i am 14 weeks and 3 days. i have a bump and its actually been there for a couple of weeks now. i know that some people don't start showing until around week 16, but they say everyone is different and i am holding on to that - me AND my bump! i am embracing all this change and loving this tiny thing inside of me already. at our second sonogram (week 11) the baby was such a show off - doing a flip and dancing all around on its head with tiny legs and feet kicking up in the air. melt my heart, it was so precious! our doctor asked if i was a ballerina or a gymnist. she says she was asking because of my build and because of how the baby was behaving. i think she implied girl right then and there! we also got to hear the heartbeat at this appointment...173!!! whoa! slow down little one. doc says its just a happy baby though.

baby at 11 weeks - 2nd sonogram

everyone keeps asking if we want a boy or girl. i can honestly say that neither one of are partial toward a boy or a girl. all we want is a happy healthy baby. i always said that even before i was pregnant and people always told me "yeah right" or "well you'll care the minute you find out you are pregnant" but really. I DON'T CARE! neither does matt. in fact...i have been saying from the beginning that i don't want to find out what it is. i just feel like it would be such a fun surprise. we have names picked out (which shall remain a secret until delivery) for either boy or girl so really what's the rush. i have a color scheme and plan for the nursery that suits either sex also. well this was all good and fine until about a week ago when my sister delivered. all of a sudden matt just HAS to know what we are having. according to him this will be the keystone to him "connecting" with the baby. grrrr. no way can i let him in on our secret without me knowing. so now my will power is being weakened.

11 week bump

we have our 15 week appointment on tuesday and i think that if it is a boy and in a good position she may be able to tell on the sonogram. otherwise, we will have to wait until the next months appointment (at 19 weeks) to find out the sex (should we decide to do so...again, grrrr). i cannot wait to see our little muffin up on the screen again. i could lay there and watch it all day i think. in fact i am just dying to get a doppler so i can listen to baby's heart beat...but i am so close to the time where he/she will start kicking me that i think i can hold off. the movement will be such a relief. just to know things are moving down there and baby is doing fine. i am sure all you mommies understand the need to feel the baby or hear the baby as often as possible.

13 week bump

i know there are a million more things to say and details i am leaving out but hopefully i will be a little better about keeping up over the coming months and can update a little at a time on how i am feeling, changing etc. and of course updates on what my sweet little bump is doing.

14 week bump

a special shout out to my sweet jilly...my salvation in the form of fashion! thanks for the great maternity wear. with my early to show bump - i'd be in trouble without you! xo

for now - i love you baby. daddy and i are so happy you are on your way. we prayed for you for so long and we will be praying for you every day for the rest of our lives. you are our greatest gift and already we just beam when we talk about you. we thank god everyday that he has given us the miracle of you. we can't wait to meet you. the doctor says july 19th. but you just take your time and get cozy. i like you right where you are for now. love always, mommy.

ps baby)i hope you have your daddy's sweet ears and lips. and if your smile is 1/2 as charming as his you will light up rooms for the rest of your life. he is so excited to meet you too. you are going to love him. he is the funniest, smartest and most loving best friend in the whole wide world. i am so lucky to have you both. xxo
