my sweet, sweet, handsome abby deserves a post all his own. i don't know where i would be without him. this weekend, Saturday April 25th to be exact, marks the day we met FIVE years ago! it is so hard to believe that we have already been together for five years. and at the same time...it is so hard to believe that we have only known each other five years...ye know?
it is like he has always been here. life before him is sometimes just a blurr. i cannot imagine a day without him in my life. just this past weekend he went camping. he does this about once every couple of months. i cried when he left this time. a little of this may be attributed to pregnancy hormones. but a BIG part of it is also my love for him. being pregnant has forced me to depend on him more than ever before. not just physically but emotionally too.
there are little things i now struggle with, like fastening the buckles on my sandles without totally losing my patience and my breath. but there you are to help me put my shoes on :) there are also big things. like the overwhelming exhaustion of work and carrying a baby. the planning and details and worrying...this is where my super hero husband steps in. this is where it is so obvious that our marriage was a part of God's perfect plan for our lives. this is when i know beyond the shadow of a doubt that God set this amazing man aside JUST FOR ME.
i am so grateful for who he is and all he has become in these last five years. i am so proud of him and so anxious to watch him as God teaches him more and more over the next five and the next five and the five years after that and so on! this year he will become a father and i BEAM just thinking of the joy it will bring me to watch him with our daughter. OUR little angel that WE MADE together in God's perfect love. it blows my mind...can ya tell? :)
he is going to be an amazing daddy. he is gentle and caring and soooo patient. he is so many things that i am not and he bridges so many of my gaps. i know our little girl will adore him forever. she will never be without love or laughter with matthew in her life. they will be two peas in a pod...i can hardly wait!
so...happy five year's to my best friend, my lover, my soul. you are my everything abby. not a day goes by that i do not thank God for you. you are my greatest treasure. thank you for this beautiful journey. i will forever cherish our times together as TWO. they have been so sweet and full of life! but i am looking forward to "Abernathy, Party of Three!" with you as our fearless leader :)
ps)thank you for dinner tonite. thank you for the ice cream and the brownie with the candle in it. and thank you for singing "happy 3rd trimester" to me and the Pea". you are awesome! xo
i love you with all that i am, your bear...jna
a quick look back…

I totally just teared up a little. I just hope that one day soon I will have the honor of feeling the same way:)
I have to agree with you Jill-I think that Matthew is an exceptional human being-kind, thoughtful, sweet, helpful, and loving. He has always been a blessing to me. NJA
